Apprenticeship Info for Parents

If your child is leaving School this year and is looking at their next options, have they considered an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a fantastic way to get a foot on the career ladder of your choice, and Apprenticeships have been proven to be a viable option where your child can learn invaluable, hands-on skills and also get paid while they learn.

Your child will work in a real work environment, with a contract of employment and a salary, and Apprenticeships are a progressive route which can lead to full time employment and can even lead onto a Degree with the introduction of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in sectors such as accountancy, law and engineering – your child can gain all of the qualifications without all of the debt!

All Apprenticeships are paid a wage, and this varies upon their age and the organisations. The minimum wage for a 16-18 year old Apprentice is £3.50 per hour, employed a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 40 hours. If you employ someone aged 19+ working towards their first Apprenticeship, the minimum wage is £3.70 for the first 12 months.

Springboard work closely with local businesses in the North East, and we have successfully placed candidates within names such as Sunderland Hospital, Sunderland City Council, Your Move, schools across the North East and more!
